CLOVR Unveils New Single, ‘Friends’ feat. Amela
Meanjin/Brisbane-based dance/electronic act Clovr has unveiled his vibrant single ‘Friends‘ feat. Amela – produced by the artist himself and mixed/mastered by Liam Quinn (Ruel, Peach PRC, Ūla).
‘Friends’ bursts into a kaleidoscope of colour, weaving intricate electronic textures, atmospheric pads, and glitching sound design. The track conjures a sense of wonder with crisp percussion that melds effortlessly alongside Amela’s rich vocals.
Clovr talks about the inspiration behind ‘Friends’ feat. Amela:
“The idea behind the song is the irony of the saying ‘we can still be friends’ after retiring a toxic long-term relationship. It also represents empowerment, taking back control, regaining confidence and overcoming the hurdle of shame. Treading the fine line between letting go to keep the peace and making people accountable for their actions. You don’t have to be silent just because they told you to be… “
Clovr has previously shared the stage with acts such as Lime Cordiale, Go–Jo, Bag Raiders, Luude, Wongo, Example, Hermitude and appeared on multiple festival lineups such as Be Social Fest, Sugar Drop and Rhythm and The Reef.
Taking cues from luminaires Flume, Daniel Allan and Mura Masa, Clovr shares that he first found his connection with music when, “Mum had the Fleetwood Mac concert tapes on VHS and that made me obsessed with music. I got into electronic music from listening to a lot of hardstyle back in 2009 but only started tinkering with free trial DAWs after being inspired by the Flumestep in 2011/12.”
