Columbus Drop Emotive Music Video Ahead of Debut Album & National Tour
Brisbane punk rockers Columbus have announced the release of their debut album and a supporting national headline tour. The full length studio album ‘Spring Forever’ is due for release in late August, and we couldn’t be more keen!
After releasing their debut EP ‘Sad Songs and Sing-Alongs’ in 2013, the trio made their international breakthrough with their follow-up ‘Home Remedy’. Breakout single from the EP, Downsides of Being Honest is a fast, emotive track, with raw lyrics that speak of abandonment and poor choices. It was this song which launched Columbus into the mainstream for punk-listeners, cementing the band as newcomers to keep an eye on.
The lead single from ‘Spring Forever’, Raindrops, is a song about the harsh realities of life and how a single event can change a relationship, showing nothing lasts forever. Vocalist and guitarist Alex Moses says this theme is echoed throughout the album.
“It’s an album about love, getting older, and coming to terms with losing someone at a time when you’re still learning things about yourself,” Moses says.
The name of the album was inspired by the seasons, and how different emotions can represent different ones.
“As I was writing the album, the references to seasons came very naturally…I sometimes feel like I have to fight through the cold, the winter and the hard times to get to the spring,” Moses says.
