Come, Alice, To The Wonderland of Gum’s New Single “Elafonissi Blue”
Tame Impala multi-instrumentalist Jay Watson a.k.a Gum has unveiled the visual translation for Elafonissi Blue, the latest single off his album ‘Glamorous Damage’. With its simple guitar melody and soothing, spacial beat, Elafonissi Blue will teleport you back to the 90s.
The single’s sentiment of “claustrophobia followed by bliss” is captured in the accompanying video, showcasing an explosion of intergalactic images and neon treatments. With everything from bike-riding monkeys to bursts of optical illusions, the technicolour lo-fi clip only enhances the flanger-effected electro-pop tune.
Currently performing a string of solo shows around the globe, the last six months has seen Gum support the likes of Mac DeMarco and Mini Mansions on their Australian tour dates. Put simply, Elafonissi Blue is a trip straight to a parallel universe, and Gum’s familiar and soulful electric tunes will see him sky-rocketing for success in months to come.
