Community Radio Shimmers In New Single “Crystal Ball”
Sydney skewed-pop outfit Community Radio are back with a new track off their forthcoming album “Look Now You’re Cursed”, due out 15 July.
The band released their debut album ‘Serious Magic’ in September 2012 and two follow up singles in 2014.
Reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac, Crystal Ball takes on much cleaner production than Community Radio’s previous track Real Transformation.
As the quiet synthesiser nestles into the background, shimmering guitars and howling vocals take centre stage.
The track is inspired by Edward Hirsch’s book “Gabriel”, a story of an American Poet who deals with the death of his son. The simplicity of the track allows the instruments to breathe and creates moments for the listener to take it all in.
Former Youth Group members Cameron Emerson-Elliot and Patrick Matthews deliver plenty of energy on the track, and each note is like a breath of fresh air.
The guitar builds and morphs into a cathartic exercise, placing the listener into the shoes of the Poet from “Gabriel”, while the thumping melodic bass line will make your skin crawl.
If you’re into Fleetwood Mac, The Go-Betweens, or just after some easy listening music to get you through the day, Community Radio’s new song Crystal Ball is for you.
