COTERIE Share Their Favourite Hometown Artists
Perth-based indie-pop quartet COTERIE are getting ready to embark on their first ever headline tour throughout July and August with a run of capacity dates across Australia. To celebrate the tour the boys have shared with us 5 of their favourite hometown artists.
“Picture yourself rolling down the hills of West Coast Drive. You’ve just knocked off work on a Friday arvo, with 5 local Perth-based bands to bring in the weekend and carry out the drive home. These are the 5 bands you need:”
I’m not sure if I’m biased, simply because we just love these dudes and that makes their music sweeter. ‘Capital F’ takes the reggae vibes that Coterie know all too well, blending with familiar pub rock. Couldn’t think of a more fun-loving group. Big ups for these boys!
Aussie surf rock takeover. These lads roll snake eyes with every release! We had Dice jump on before us when we sold out Freo Social back in May last year and they smashed it. These young dudes have a carefree vibe, paired with classic grunge which you’ll find culminated in the absolute fire banger – ‘The Search’.
These dudes obviously fit the Coterie bill, they’re right down the barrel we surf! It’s sick to find another Perth band that sonically, culturally, and aesthetically aligns so well. Their melodies echo as far as the hills. ‘Tired of Waiting ‘is a tune! Big things coming up for these fellas.
Been a fan of these lads for some time now. Just authentic music. ‘Drift’ makes you feel like you’re floating out at sea somewhere over the Atlantic. It’s always a stoked feeling bumping into them on different line-ups, they’re the same on and off stage. Heartfelt stuff that you can bang ya head to.
We’ve known these girls for a while now, each of them has more talent than human capacity should allow! Solid singers, solid musicians, and gnarly song writers! Their lyrics carry stacks of depth, and a story that you can feel with such authenticity. Soulful and heartfelt. We were super stoked for them to land the support for Ocean Alley around Aus! Getting the attention they deserve, and I reckon we’ll be seeing them on top of the charts one day.
