Australian indie dance legends Cut Copy are back with their first original release in five years, unveiling the powerful new single Solid. Known for redefining the landscape of electronic music, the Melbourne outfit reemerge with a track that’s both emotionally resonant and irresistibly danceable.

Solid captures a moment of personal reflection and perseverance, layered in signature Cut Copy style. From its dreamy synth textures to its pulsing beat and minimalist vocals repeating “We’ll be solid,” the song builds with cathartic intensity. Originally conceived as an instrumental, the track took a life of its own during a period of change for the band—echoing a message of strength in the face of uncertainty.

Lead singer Dan Whitford describes the song as a personal mantra for resilience and encouragement, hoping it offers listeners a gentle reminder to keep pushing forward.

I wrote the song as a reminder to myself that things will be ok, even when life gets turned on its head and it feels like there’s no way forward.  I hope in some small way it gives other people a little nudge forward in the direction of their dreams.  Hang in there… We’ll be solid.” Dan Whitford, Cut Copy.

The release marks a major moment for the band, whose discography includes iconic albums like In Ghost Colours and Zonoscope. Alongside the digital release, fans can pre-order a limited-edition vinyl featuring unreleased B-side A Decade Long Sunset.

With Solid, Cut Copy reaffirm their legacy while charting bold new territory—proving they’re still evolving, still essential, and still solid.
