David Byrne Announces Australian Tour
Update 01/08 9.05am: The one-and-only Kimbra will be joining David Byrne on all shows of his Australian and New Zealand tour this November. Kimbra recently wrapped her ‘Primal Heart’ tour in the country last month.
Original Story: Music iconoclast and master songwriter, David Byrne, will make his Australian return this November for a run of shows behind his new solo album, ‘American Utopia’—his first in 14 years.
The visual artist, author and former Talking Heads leader will perform four very special east-coast shows—including stops in Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Adelaide. Additionally, he’ll be performing three shows in New Zealand—in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland—which will be Byrne’s first visit to the country since 2009.
Byrne promises these shows to be something special. He’ll be accompanied by an 11-piece band performing songs from his vivid and extensive back catalogue. The show is choreographed by Annie-B Parson, who also assisted on Byrne’s and St. Vincent’s collaborative performances behind ‘Love This Giant’. ‘American Utopia’ features such great singles as ‘Everybody’s Coming To My House’ and ‘Every Day Is A Miracle’. The album was co-written with frequent collaborator Brian Eno with help from TTY, Happa, Isaiah Barr (leader of the Onyx Collective), Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) and Mercury Prize winner, Sampha.
In the unconventional move, there will be no pre-sale for these tickets. General sale for all shows kicks of Monday 18 June HERE. Scope the dates below.
