The Devil Wears Prada Announce Sixth Album “Transit Blues”
American metalcore crew The Devil Wears Prada have announced their sixth album ‘Transit Blues’, a follow up to their 2015 EP ‘Space’. The band recently released the album’s first single Daughter, a nod to their distinctive style and unique brand of electronic influenced metalcore. With metallic riffs, hardcore breakdowns, generous synths, and dark lyrics, Daughter is a brooding yet anthemic track.
While the single carries similar instrumentation to the ‘Space’ EP, Daughter is noticeably more synth-heavy, but in contrast to their previous work, the single sees the band use it with finesse. As well as being an effective backing instrument, the synthesizer is given as much space as the guitars, adding plenty of flavour to what would have otherwise been a fairly generic breakdown.
Characterised by universal themes of transition, separation, and mourning and integrated instrumentation, ‘Transit Blues’ presents another step in The Devil Wears Prada’s sonic evolution. Vocalist Mike Hranica said the album is about the inevitable process of growth and change. “It’s the notion of getting from one place to another. Most people go from their homes to work while we go from date to date on tour. There are moments of anger, but the pervading theme is separation. Drawing the full circle, it is separation that is inherent in moving from one place to another.”
The Devil Wears Prada’s sixth album ‘Transit Blues’ is set for release on Friday 7th of October.
