Dope Lemon Unveils Sun Drenched Single, ‘Miami Baby’
After the much-anticipated reveal of his upcoming fourth album ‘Kimosabè’ (set to release on Friday, September 29 via BMG), the adored Australian artist, DOPE LEMON, surprises fans by dropping the album’s second single, ‘Miami Baby.’ With the artist taking the production reins himself, ‘Miami Baby’ promises to be another masterpiece in DOPE LEMON’s musical repertoire.
Drawing inspiration from its namesake, ‘Miami Baby’ exudes a vibrant and effortlessly cool aura, presenting a poised indie-rock gem. The track rides on the back of an unwavering rhythmic foundation, allowing the groove to flow seamlessly as the syncopated bass and skillfully arranged guitars create a captivating musical tapestry, all complemented by the enigmatic frontman Angus Stone’s effortless vocals. The dreamy and anthemic chorus transports listeners to a psychedelic-infused summer, igniting a burst of sunshine that sets the perfect mood for blissful musical reverie.
Kimosabè’ is a divine and open-armed universe, boasting ethereal and mesmerising soundscapes, that transcends the status quo. It’s the first DOPE LEMON album that reveals the face of Angus Stone, the project’s brainchild, on its cover. He comments: “This record is everything that’s me. In the past, the artwork has been anonymous in a way because I was trying to explore these styles, and having this shield in front of me was beautiful – I could sort of slink around in the shadows and wouldn’t have the public make judgement on the person behind it. This record, I had moments of clarity reflecting on my childhood, and I was able to see where I want to be in the future. So putting myself on the cover just felt right.”
To celebrate the release DOPE LEMON will perform two shows to at the Forum Melbourne and at the Sydney Opera House. 2023 is shaping up to be a huge year in the live arena for DOPE LEMON with recent performances at Rock Werchter and Best Kept Secret, before heading to the USA for festivals Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and Outside Lands in August and October.
