Down For Tomorrow Unveil New Single And Share Some Ideas To Stay Creative During Isolation

Sydney-based indie-punk quartet Down For Tomorrow have just revealed their fervent new single ‘Emily’ – produced and mixed by Stevie Knight (Stand Atlantic, Yours Truly, The Dead Love).

‘Emily’ opens with resounding drums and lightly distorted guitars, as frontman Cody Stebbings’ vigorous vocals swiftly follow. The song builds and launches into a head-banging chorus, guided by a melody soaked in angst and conviction, with the band’s raw emotion apprehending the darker features in their music.

Not only have they released this ripping brand new tune but they’ve offered some great ideas on how to remain creative during isolation!

BECOME AN INFLUENCER

They flood our Instagram feeds, and if you can’t beat them, why not join them? Get those perfect angles, step up your emoji game, research some recycled inspirational quotes from an incorrect source, and create some eye watering content for those who need a form of entertainment while they’re stuck inside.

LISTEN TO RAM RANCH ON REPEAT

It took us seven hours into a Melbourne drive to finally come around to the joyous world of Ram Ranch, but since we’re all suffering a bit of cabin fever, you might beat that time. Lyrical content that many artists would sell their soul for, and expertly crafted layers of instruments, this is best blasted at full volume while UNDER LOCKDOWN.

COOK SOMETHING THAT ISN’T PASTA

No time like the present to stop spending money you won’t earn back in a hurry on takeaway for the tenth night in a row… ask your mum or your grandma for her recipes, and learn to cook. Get creative. Bake. Make it fun. Spice it up. So next time you’re allowed to have a house party or have mates over, you can impress them with your new skills you learnt instead of watching the digits in your bank account go lower for some under par food.

DON’T WATCH THE NEWS

…before you create. It’s easier said than done when you’re part of a big family and the news is on at breakfast and dinner and even lunch, because we are sold, even force fed, bad news and drama. For artists who abide by a morning routine to stay creative, I recommend you don’t watch the news. At least write a bit, cook your breakfast, have a conversation with a loved one, do as many integral things as you can before the TV is inevitably turned on and we are reminded about the state of things right now.

WASH YOUR HANDS UNTIL YOU FIGURE OUT THAT CHORUS YOU’VE BEEN MEANING TO WRITE / LEARN

Some of my favourite memes right now are the hand washing posters with lyrics underneath. It’s a good diagram for how long you should be washing your hands, and it makes it fun. So, lather up the hands with soap and learn some songs, or heck, even think of some lyrics of your own and put it to music once your hands are clean and dry.
