El Grande Is The Heavy Music Pub-stival You Can’t Miss

El Grande 2016 Article

With the demise of Soundwave, the postponement of Legion, and the geographical inconvenience of UNIFY, Queensland heavy music fans may be feeling a little forgotten in terms of a dedicated heavy music festival experience.

Luckily for heavy fans in the Sunshine State, El Grande is back for another year with what has to be even more gusto than ever!

El Grande originally began as a rock, hip-hop, and roots one-day extravaganza in Gladstone, featuring Ezekiel Ox, Drawcard, Forever the Optimist, Guards of May, DieVsCity. Three years on and ‘the pub-stival that could’ has now expanded to Brisbane, with its sights set for an even bigger future.

“We went large in the previous years and this year, we really wanted to provide something for the punters that is affordable and reasonable, while also being a mind-blowing experience of non-stop music for the events”

By far Australia’s best heavy music pub-stival, this year’s El Grande will feature some of the best home-grown talent in rock, prog, punk, and metal, gifting both Brisbane and Gladstone a night of heavy music heaven.

Brisbane’s New Globe Theatre will host a two-stage event featuring AlithiA, OPIA, Bayharbour, Greenthief, Arkive, Balloons Kill Babies, Colibrium, Magenta Voyeur, Kodiak Empire, and Red in Tooth.

The pub-stival will then travel up the highway the next day to Gladstone’s Grand Hotel, where Calilgula’s Horse will headline an awesome lineup including Awaken I Am, Osaka Punch, Satellites, and Central Queensland local heroes Pandamic, La Mont, Strictly Ballroom, and Animal Throwdown.

Festival Organiser Nathan Bedford couldn’t be more excited with the announcement, saying El Grande 2016 will definitely “hit the mark” for all heavy music fans.

“We went large in the previous years and this year, we really wanted to provide something for the punters that is affordable and reasonable, while also being a mind-blowing experience of non-stop music for the events,” said Bedford.

Tickets for the 18+ events are on sale now HEREPhysical tickets will also be on sale in Gladstone at the Grand Hotel.
