Electro-Rock Trio PVT Are Back With Epic New Single & Tour Dates
Alternative electro-rock band PVT have (finally) announced their return to the Australian music scene! After a three-year hiatus, the Sydney-based group just dropped their new single Morning Mist, Rock Island Bend and accompanying music video, along with details about an upcoming album and East Coast tour.
Morning Mist, Rock Island Bend is experimental, delivering electro-rock sounds and warped vocals meshed together by an earthy undertone. The whopping 9-minute track features spiritual lyrics that read like a spoken word poem while quirky synths rattle and reverberate throughout. The track picks up as electronic rhythms intensify and instruments provide a mystical, almost psychedelic soundscape.
The accompanying music video is both unusual and beautiful, as the 9-minute clip shows what can only be described as a yeti creature travelling through a mountainous section of Australian bush. Forest, caves, forests, and rocky outcrops comprise much of the music video while angelic figures are seen hidden in the shadows of native bushland.
The creature is seen worshipping the land as it performs ritualistic dances in time with the dynamical changes in the track, making it a little bit creepy but completely absorbing.
“We thought releasing a 9-minute song would be kind of confrontational in some ways. This track is the spiritual centre-piece of the [new album] and it’s a song that’s kind of directly about the environment but touches on this idea of identity.
“We’ve always felt like as Australians, the environment has a really strong connection to the Australian spirit, the Australian psyche, the Australian identity,” said PVT.
PVT’s upcoming fifth studio album ‘New Spirit’ is set for release on the 17th of February. Since their inception in 1999 PVT have released four albums, three EPs, and have performed alongside some pretty big names including the Arctic Monkeys, Warpaint, Bloc Party, and Gotye.
PVT’s ‘New Spirit’ tour is set to span across three dates in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney as the trio return to the stage. Make sure you grab yourself a ticket after you watch the music video for Morning Mist, Rock Island Bend below!
