Eli Reveals Dreamy New Single, ‘One of These Days’

Australian artist, Eli has today released his dream y new number, One of These Days, taken from his forthcoming debut EP, I Can Be Whatever You Want Me To Be, set for release in August.

One of These Days is a mellow, reflective song about dreaming big and enjoying the journey, rather than being fixated on the end goal. Eli explains that while the song’s basic structure and lyrics came together quickly, the production process took almost two years.

Something a little slower. Not everything can be a turbo rush into a 180bpm four to the floor. I wrote this song quite quickly in a matter of an hour or two with my guitar. It’s a very simple form, structurally and lyrically speaking. When it came to producing it however, the process was a lot longer.

This is a song I’ve had with me now for nearly two years, and over time I would slowly chip away at it on my computer. I would program the drums, then come back to it a few months later and add some synths. And as I produced this so slowly over so long, many different artists were inspirations. I would really love some of Yung Lean’s slower stuff, so I would try to emulate the synth sounds he had on this track. A few months later I was really into Dean Blunt, so I wanted to add some acoustic elements at the end, so the acoustic kit and sax was added at the end.

To me this song is about dreaming big, and being ok with the process of what that looks like. It takes time and effort but the process and the journey is always the best part.” – Eli.

The track is a blend of subtle electronic beats and soothing acoustic tones, making it a relaxing listen. Eli’s thoughtful approach to the song’s production mirrors the message of the track itself: taking time and finding joy in the creative process.
