Elk Road & Lisa Mitchell Glide Through Like A Version Flight Facilities Cover

Elk Road Like A Version

While Lisa Mitchell has been on the come-down from her recent Australian tour, producer Elk Road a.k.a. Rory Garton-Smith has been busy releasing new singles and preparing for his triple j Like A Version cover this week! Mitchell and her back-up singers joined Garton-Smith for a mash-up of Flight Facilities hit Crave You with a touch of Tame Impala’s The Less I Know The Better, and the final product is a celebration of techno-fuelled, harmony-heavy magic.

Elk Road starts the cover strong with an instantly recognisable hook and punchy beats, Lisa Mitchell’s distinctive vocal style completing a complex puzzle early in the piece. The melodic tapestry only gets busier and more intriguing as it incorporates delicate vocal harmonies and intricate rhythms. Ever self-assured, Mitchell makes the track her own with sweet restraint and impressive control, never allowing the beats to swallow her spotlight.

This cover brings a unique, modern techno style to a future classic without compromising the effortless musical and vocal flow of the original. Elk Road has given it a new energy without losing its old charm, proving himself an intuitive talent and one to watch in 2017.
