Sydney alt-metal force Dirt City are back, delivering a crushing new single, Scratched —and AAA Backstage is stoked to bring you the world-first exclusive spin ahead of its official release tomorrow.

Produced by Nathan Sheehy (DZ Deathrays, Birds of Tokyo) and mastered by Klaus Hill (PNAU, LDRU, The Sex Guys), Scratched is a hard-hitting exploration of self-medication and the internal struggle that comes with it. The band explains that while the lyrics might read like a werewolf story, they actually reflect the duality of alcohol consumption—the transformation, the escape, and the haunting sense of reliance.

“While I typically loathe telling people how to interpret a song, if you really want to spoil the ending, this is a song about struggling with alcohol consumption and the split personality it created. At face value, you could read it as a werewolf tale, but underneath it’s really about drinking and feeling like you need to drink to feel a sense of normalcy.” – Dirt City.
