Eyes of Sand Q & A: Adam Murray from Sydonia

Sydonia

Melbourne heavy hitters Sydonia are turning plenty of heads with their Lamb of God and Slipknot approved metal in the wake of their latest track Eyes of Sand. We asked the band’s bassist Adam Murray some gritty questions about sand and what to expect from their upcoming album!

Would you ever want to live under the sea just like Sandy Cheeks from Spongebob Squarepants?

Is that the beaver thing? Im more Voltron or Ninjascroll than Spongebob!

Would you rather live permanently with sand in your eyes or sand in your pants?

Sandy pants, for no reason at all…

Say you were deserted in the Simpson Desert, what three items would you take with to survive?

Food, water and shelter…but seriously, Pizza, Mad Max’s Interceptor, and a Steyr with plenty of ammo.

If possible, would you ever want to live in a giant sand castle and how would you protect it against the sea?

A f*ck off big moat…or build it on an upside down floating volcano…yeah that would work!

If Bob Dylan came to Australia and stole Every Grain of Sand, how would bring the sand back?

Well I would conjure up an Ocean of Storms to carry the sand back. (laughs)

What would you do if you were captured by the Sand People [Tusken Raiders] from Star Wars?

Now we are talking!!! Unfortunately Tusken Raiders are not known for being intelligent. So I would use my superior human intellect to outsmart them, escape, and then lay waste to the entire clan.

If you ever became the Sandman from Marvel, would you choose to be evil or good?

No offence but who the hell is Sandman?? Marvel you’ve gone too far now. The only Marvel character for me is The Hulk.

For the uninitiated, how do you describe Sydonia’s live shows and sound?

Engaging and loud!

We’re digging your new single Eyes of Sand, what’s the inspiration behind the song?

Thank you! Every individual takes different meaning from their interpretation of a song’s lyrics. That is part of the magic of music…what do you think Dana was feeling when he wrote those lyrics?

Lastly, what are three things that people should know about your upcoming album?

  1. We have a new amazing lead guitarist.
  2. This is the fastest, heaviest album we have written.
  3. It’ll be our best release yet!
