Fan Girl Return With A New Uplifting Tune, ‘Backwards (everything is)’

Melbourne indie rock outfit Fan Girl have returned today with a super uplifting new single, Backwards (everything is) and features a quirky and fun feature video to go alongside the release.

Backwards (everything is) also features the vocals of Sydney musician Annie Hamilton and is an indie delight. Featuring some big punchy drums and some classic guitar work it’s sure to brighten your day.

Fan Girl have been known to release a more darker kind of vibe on their previous tunes so this new track was the result of a challenge.

“We wanted to write what some people might see as a “happy” sounding Fan Girl song, while still being a little wonky, broken and unhinged.

The punchy, sunny and erratic colours of the instrumental are contrasted with sleepy and dreamy lyrical imagery, and the lyrics thematically play with the idea of mourning a time, a place, a person, a greasy meal, a restful sleep, a feeling.

“We were SUPER lucky to have the wonderful Annie Hamilton add her brilliant vocals to the track.”

This new tune from Fan Girl is just the start of more to come we’re told and if this is anything to go by we’re super excited for what’s to come.
