Fangz Attempt Guiness World Record + Reveal New Single, ‘Let’s Talk’
To celebrate the release of their new single ‘Let’s Talk‘, FANGZ frontman Josh Cottreau has attempted to break the Guinness World Record for most hard-boiled eggs eaten in one sitting.*
Josh comments on the Guinness World Record Attempt:
“After many attempts at releasing music to leave our mark on the world, we had the idea to try and cement our legacy in the Guinness Book of World Records. We had to choose a record and it took us months to find the correct one. It was late one evening and the 1967 prison drama Cool Hand Luke was on free-to-air TV. Paul Newman (the salad dressing guy) attempted to eat 50 hard-boiled eggs in one sitting and I thought ‘yeah, I could do heaps more’. Fast forward to the present day and I’m now a world record holder. The day after filming, we flew to Brissy and the smell on the luxury Virgin aircraft was horrendous.”
Produced by Tim Maxwell (LOSER), ‘Let’s Talk’ explodes with immense energy, initiated by a frantic drum fill and elevated by Josh’s capacious vocals. True to their trademark style, the song hurtles forward with defiant authority and stratums of distorted melodies that encapsulate the raw elements of punk rock – angst and vitality.
Despite the ridiculous music video, the track also comes with a compelling message. Jameel Majamshines a light on the meaning behind ‘Let’s Talk’:
“‘Let’s Talk’ is about getting over the reluctance to ask for help. Getting out of your head and silencing the inner fear of rejection. I wish I had realised earlier that without a good support network, it’s hard to do anything. The song also opened my eyes to being a present and active friend to the people around me.”
FANGZ will be playing at Oxford Art Factory‘s Gallery Bar in Eora/Sydney, and launching a second limited edition 7″ split vinyl with Naarm/Melbourne-based punk band Captives at The Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar.
This comes off the back of their sold-out headliner at The Lady Hampshire, their 7″ split vinyl launch show with Lunchtime at Tomcat in Meanjin/Brisbane, and having recently supported USA-based luminaries He Is Legend and FIDLAR.
In the live arena, they’ve previously sold-out multiple headline shows around Australia, and have toured with the likes of The Bronx (USA), Cancer Bats (CAN), Comeback Kid (CAN), RedHook, The Bennies and Gyroscope.
