Favourite Kid Announce Debut Album with Uplifting New Single ‘Eyes On The Road’
Brisbane indie alt-country outfit Favourite Kid have released their brand-new single Eyes On The Road, the first taste of their forthcoming debut album Two Cent Journal, set to arrive on Friday, November 21.
Formed by siblings Ethan, Jaimie and Saul Roberts, Favourite Kid blend the charm of indie-folk, the grit of alt-country and the polish of modern pop, creating a sound as heartfelt as it is infectious. Ethan, who also performs solo as Aspy Jones and is a 2024 Queensland Music Award winner, leads the trio with the natural chemistry only family can provide.

“The album is called Two Cent Journal, and it’s a collection of songs about how I try to maintain good mental health whilst dealing with life. The songs are a real genre mix of indie-folk, alt-country and pop because I really find it difficult to stay in one lane. Two Cent Journal reflects my views of some of the hard lessons I’ve learned throughout my life, and I’m hoping it might help someone else who is struggling. This album has been five years in the making, so it’s a bit of an understatement to say I’m excited (and very nervous) for people to hear it.” – Ethan Roberts, Favourite Kid.
Having already graced major festival stages including Woodford Folk Festival, Gympie Music Muster, Caloundra Music Festival (where they earned a Limelight Award) and supported icons like The Fabulous Caprettos, the band are now ready to take their music to the next level.
Shining with bright guitars, warm harmonies and an uplifting message, Eyes On The Road encourages listeners to walk their own path, reminding us that “comparison is the thief of joy.” It’s a hopeful anthem about resilience, self-reflection and moving forward at your own pace.
Eyes On The Road is out now, with Two Cent Journal to follow November 21.
