Ferny Fairway Unveil New Single, ‘State Of Mine’

Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based indie-rock band Ferny Fairway have returned with their fiery single ‘State of Mine‘ – recorded/mixed by Angus Woodhead and mastered by Darren Ziesing from MillenniumMastering (Lime CordialeThe BuoysSafia).

‘State of Mine’ explodes with fast-paced drums and gritty guitars that reverberate with an exhilarating intensity, carrying the soaring vocals of frontman Jack Johnston. Surging at a relentless pace, the anthemic chorus propels with hook-laden gang vocals and unwavering momentum that lead to its seismic finale.

Ferny Fairway talk about the inspiration behind ‘State of Mine’:

“‘State of Mine’ was based upon never feeling right after always trying. The song is about the realisation of ending past relationships and feeling like you’ve wasted time. The theme of the music video involves our frontman, Jack, in an argument with a girl before getting into the car and driving away. Jack picks up each member of the band, 1 by 1 and features the boys driving to different locations, singing the song in a convertible. Although the theme is about a breakup, we centred the majority of the video around the band members jamming to the track, as the tonality of the song makes the listener want to move and have fun.”

Accompanying the release is the vibrant music video directed by the band’s own Jack Williams, opening with a flaming drum kit left outside in the middle of the night. As the video unfolds, the viewer is taken on a lively journey switching between daytime and a nocturnal cityscape, with the camera mounted outside the car providing a seamless and immersive perspective.
