Australia’s summer festival season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent years, with a mix of confirmed tours, strong rumours, and surprise possibilities. Here’s a look at some of the most talked-about acts that could be heading Down Under in late 2025 and early 2026.

Tool: A Strong Contender for Good Things Festival

Progressive metal legends Tool have announced their first solo shows in Japan in nearly two decades, scheduled for December 11 in Yokohama and December 13 in Kobe. Given that the Good Things Festival is set for December 5–7 in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, Tool’s schedule aligns well with a potential headlining slot. Industry insiders suggest that an Australian tour announcement could be imminent.

Nine Inch Nails: A Dark Horse for Good Things?

Industrial rock pioneers Nine Inch Nails have announced their “Peel It Back” world tour for 2025, marking their first global trek since 2022. The tour kicks off in Europe in June and continues through North America until mid-September, with no Australian dates currently listed. However, the band’s schedule leaves room for additional shows later in the year, and fans are hopeful that an Australian leg could be added, possibly aligning with the Good Things Festival in December.

Fred again..: The King of Surprise Returns?

UK producer and DJ Fred again.. has a history of spontaneous pop-up shows, including surprise sets all over Australia in early 2024. With his penchant for unannounced performances, there’s a possibility he might return to Australia for more impromptu gigs during the summer festival season.

My Chemical Romance: Emo Icons Eyeing Australia?

Emo legends My Chemical Romance are currently on their “Long Live The Black Parade” world tour, performing their iconic 2006 album in full across North and South America. While no Australian dates have been officially announced, recent sightings of mysterious billboards in Malaysia have fueled speculation about an upcoming Asia-Pacific leg. Given the band’s history of passionate Australian fanbase and previous tours, a surprise appearance at festivals like Good Things isn’t out of the question.

Muse: Close, But Maybe Not This Time

British rock titans Muse are set to perform in Japan this September, with shows at Kyocera Dome in Osaka on September 23 and K-Arena Yokohama on September 25. While their proximity to Australia has sparked speculation about a potential visit, the tight timeline and lack of any official announcements make an Aussie leg unlikely this time around.

Other Acts Gaining Momentum

Beyond these headline-grabbing names, several other artists are generating buzz and could make appearances in Australia:

  • Imagine Dragons: Consistently ranking among the world’s most popular bands in 2025, their energetic performances make them a strong candidate for major festivals.
  • Lorde: With a new album anticipated this summer, the New Zealand singer-songwriter is poised for a global tour, and her close ties to Australia make a visit likely.
  • South Arcade: This UK-based band has rapidly gained traction with their Y2K-inspired sound and strong social media presence, making them a fresh addition to festival lineups.

Final Thoughts

While nothing is set in stone, the combination of scheduled tours, festival dates, and industry chatter suggests that Australia’s summer festival season could feature a mix of legendary acts and rising stars. Keep an eye out for official announcements in the coming months, and stay tuned for what promises to be an unforgettable lineup.
