Flight Facilities Unveil Electrifying Single ‘Trouble’: A Contemporary Ode to Dance Music’s Golden Era

Flight Facilities, the acclaimed ARIA award-winning electronic duo, has recently unveiled their latest single, Trouble, featuring the enchanting vocals of longtime collaborator Owl Eyes.

Coming just a month before their highly anticipated Trouble 2024 tour across North America, which notably includes a performance at Coachella, this release follows closely on the heels of their wildly successful and completely sold-out national tour, The Decades Tour. Fans eagerly awaiting new material from Jimmy and Hugo will be thrilled with this fresh offering, marking their first original release since the acclaimed Lost Forever EP in 2022.

Embarking on a sonic journey to the sacred realm of 2000s dance music, the genesis of Trouble unfolded during Flight Facilities’ 2023 stint of Ibiza DJ sets, where the boundary between late nights and missed flights blurred into existence. Returning to their creative hub, the duo welcomed lifelong collaborators Brooke Addamo (Owl Eyes) and Jack Glass (Bag Raiders) into the studio. What transpired was a heartfelt homage to the DNA of dance classics, drawing inspiration from the irresistible Chaka Khan hook in Stardust’s Music Sounds Better With You, the emotionally charged collaboration in Todd Terry’s edit of Everything But The Girl’s, Missing, and the mirror balled drumroll echoing through Spiller’s Groovejet. Trouble emerges as a sublime collision of magical moments from an era that bestowed warm and ecstatic music, offering fans an irresistible escape, all infused with the unmistakable freshness of a Flight Facilities anthem.

Trouble, in many ways, is a return to our origins in taste, influence and collaboration. Working with Owl Eyes and Bag Raiders’ Jack Glass, to reference some turn-of-the century dance-pop was such a natural fit. We’ve always had a special nostalgia for the 2000s, so any excuse to inject its sound into today is one we’ll take.”Flight Facilities.

“This silly little song is an ode to the chaotic energy of those early touring years with my lifelong friends Jimmy and Hugo. It’s also an anthem for anyone with a fun party alter ego. I like to think mine, aka Bailey, actually took over and wrote this song.”Owl Eyes.

In the upcoming month, Flight Facilities is set to make a triumphant return to North America, gracing audiences with a series of shows dedicated to their latest single. The duo will traverse multiple states, from the vibrant city of Miami to the pulsating rhythm of Mexico City, as well as the iconic landscapes of New York and the dynamic beats of Chicago. Their musical journey culminates with a stellar performance at the 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, spanning two unforgettable weekends in California. Having initially captivated the Coachella audience in 2014 and subsequently earning an invitation to DJ at last year’s DoLAB stage, 2024 promises to be a full-circle moment for Flight Facilities, creating an immersive experience for all fortunate enough to witness this year’s electrifying performance.

Following the resounding success of last year’s The Decades Tour, where Jimmy and Hugo took their celebrated mixes from intimate club settings to sprawling festival mainstages and even the impromptu vibe of car parks nationwide, “Trouble” emerges as the next chapter in Flight Facilities’ musical odyssey. The duo demonstrated their prowess as avid crate diggers and meticulous selectors throughout the tour, curating a journey through 40 years of musical history that captivated audiences, leading to sold-out shows from beginning to end. Since its inception in 2012, the six-part decades series has resonated with listeners across the globe, accumulating tens of millions of plays and cultivating a devoted following. A sonic centrepiece for road trips, house parties, and after-hours gatherings alike, the series has achieved cult-like status, solidifying Flight Facilities as unparalleled maestros of timeless musical exploration.

Trouble sees Flight Facilities once again prove their mastery in blending nostalgia with innovation, delivering a sonic gem that not only pays homage to dance music’s golden era but propels it into a thrilling and contemporary dimension, leaving listeners eagerly anticipating the duo’s forthcoming musical adventures.
