Float Away From Suburbia With Latest From Allan Smithy
Allan Smithy has released a soon-to-be suburban classic with Air. Written in the wake of the fire on Darling Street in Rozelle in 2014, Air is a sombre, personal song for the singer-songwriter.
Bringing to mind the classic Aussie sound of The Go-Betweens or Bernard Fanning, you will immediately want to kick back in your local park with some mates and a few bevs while listening to Air.
Opening with the classic swell of rich acoustic guitar chords Smithy and his silky voice chime in, the guitar and vocals come together perfectly like a snag on a Sunday morning. The lyrics of Air are clearly immensely heartfelt with Smithy touching on the experience of the families who lost loved ones in the fire of Rozelle, “you were the only thing I ever need, you were the air that I had to breathe“.
Air is the third single from upcoming debut EP ‘I See A Palm Tree’ set for release on Friday, November 4. Smithy will be performing along the east coast for the launch of his EP in October and November, check out the dates below!
