Florence + The Machine Release Crashing Cinematic Track

Florence + The Machine have released another magical collaboration, this time with director Tim Burton in a song for his new film “Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children”. Wish That You Were Here was co-written by Florence Welch and Burton, perfectly encapsulating the journey of love and the torture of missing someone.

Welch’s vocals shine throughout the track (as if we’d expect anything less), telling a powerful story of the heartbreak of long-distance love. The progression between verse and chorus is more a collision, skyrocketing the listener from Welch’s simple strings and keys to crashing percussion and echoing, powerful lyrics. The result is a song as cinematic in its instrumentation as in its lyrics – a sound simply made for the big screen.

Wish That You Were Here is one of two collaborative projects the English band has delved into since their 2015 album ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’. Although there’s no word on a new album anytime soon, tracks like this one will keep us more than satisfied in the meantime. Check it out below!
