Florence + The Machine Release Short Film “The Odyssey”

Florence + The Machine

Florence + The Machine have taken on an awesome project with Director Vincent Haycock, known for his work directing and editing clips with Lana Del Rey  and Paul McCartney. The 47-minute short film pieces together video clips from the band’s 2015 album ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’ which came out with some amazing videos. The film includes tracks like Queen of Peace, Ship To Wreck, and What Kind Of Man and is set to be an awesome project with the songs already having such strong stories and videos.

The film follows the story of frontwoman Florence Welch’s heartbreak, as Director, Vincent Haycock explains, “The film is titled ‘The Odyssey’ because it follows [Florence’s] cinematic journey through the storm of heartbreak, like the layers of Dante’s purgatory, each song or chapter represents a battle that Florence traversed.”

“I was talking to [Vince] about the record and the car crash of a relationship breakup I was going through. The highs and the lows of love and performance, how out of control I felt, the purgatory of heartbreak, and how I was trying to change and trying to be free.

We decided we would re-tell this story in full. We would re-claim this experience, re-imagine it and in some way perhaps I would come to understand it, to exorcise it,” said Welch
