Frank Iero & The Patience Drop Angsty Single + Announce Aussie Tour
Frank Iero, guitarist and backing vocalist of emo-kings My Chemical Romance (R.I.P.), has announced a new song, a new album, and an Aussie tour!
Having previously released music under the moniker of ‘frnk iero and the cellarbration’, the decision to change the name reflects Iero’s change in outlook on life, and his need to have “the patience to appreciate the now”. Hot on the heels of this change comes the announcement of his new album ‘Parachutes.’
Franksaid, “Parachutes are life saving devices. We rely on them to bring us back from the brink of death. Whether we fall or jump they are the only things keeping us alive. Such as with life, we are all just falling or
plunging to an eventual end, but the love of my family and my ability to create art and music has always been my parachute.
“The act of living can be random and strange, beautiful and ugly at the same time and the only thing that is undeniably certain is eventually we are all gonna hit the ground. Some of us plummet at an incredible rate and it’s over in a flash, but some of us get saved and are able to enjoy the view for a little while…. This album is one of my parachutes. xo frnk.”
The new single released from the album is I’m a Mess. With Title Fight-esque instrumentation, I’m A Mess is a basic four to the floor punk song. However, rather than being boring, the song manages to remain interesting largely thanks to the unrelentingly catchy guitar parts and Frank Iero’s unique vocal style. Landing halfway between a singing and yelling, Frank’s technique adds another layer to lyrics that deal with accepting who he is and being content with his own imperfections.
Fast, catchy and dealing with the requisite amount of angst to be coming from a My Chemical Romance member, if I’m A Mess is anything to go by ‘Parachutes’, will be a fantastic album full of angsty and catchy tunes. Due out Friday October 28th, ‘Parachutes’ is sure to be another great album from Iero.
Frank Iero and the Patience are heading Down Under in October in support of the album, and are bringing along special guest Walter Schreifels. Be sure to grab a ticket because this is sure to be a popular one.
