Get “High And Low” With Empire Of The Sun’s Latest Clip
After eight years in the business, Empire of the Sun have well and truly earned their place as one of Australia’s premiere electronic duos. With a long history of ARIA awards and chart success, Luke Steele and Nicholas Littlemore have done it again with their latest psychedelic single High And Low, complete with a colour-drenched music video.
High And Low opens to a ruminating synthesiser beneath that distinctive vocal tone, a steady drum beat making for an instant energy boost. The duo’s typical anthemic style builds up throughout the first verse with a stronger percussive influence and heavier vocals, before the chorus transforms the track with a classic dance beat and driving synth melodies.
The High And Low music video is a perfect match for the song’s buoyant energy, delivering everything that could be expected from this eclectic pair. Set in a forest amongst pristine natural surroundings, it features people in skimpy tribal costumes running up rock faces spliced amongst shots of Steele and Littlemore wearing their usual eccentric, space-age outfits and deadpan facial expressions. Ultimately, it’s all of the colour and visual effects in the video that make it difficult, if not impossible, to look away.
Littlemore said the song reflects the pair’s desire to live on the edge artistically. “Imagination is something that we’ve always nurtured and promoted and however one achieves that ecstatic madness of being is fine. It can be love to some people, it can be taking a walk in nature, or it can be scaling the heights of a psychedelic experience.”
Empire of the Sun’s album ‘Two Vines’ is set for release on Friday 28th of October. In the meantime, check out the psychedelic experience that is the High And Low music video below!
