Hardcore Revellers Ocean Grove Unleash Fiery Monster Of A Tune
Wacky and wonderful hardcore revellers Ocean Grove have dropped another taste of what 2017 may hold, in terms of a new release, with their latest single These Boys Light Fires.
Self-confessed purveyors of odd world music, fast-paced tune is a breathless trip through ’90s noise-rock nostalgia. A fresh tone for the OG lads, These Boys Light Fires progresses from the washy guitar tones of previous single Lights on Kind of Lover, instead delivering heavy punk guitar and massive drums full of furious momentum. The vocals are as Ocean Grove as you can get, with everything from rap, raspy yelling, somewhat-cleans, and megaphone distorted chants.
Frontman Luke Holmes says These Boys Light Fires is an anthem for celebrating life.
“Although we have always maintained a songwriting style that is very vivid and open to the emotional interpretation of a listener, the undercurrent theme of These Boys Light Fires is a journey.
“[It’s] written from the viewpoint of someone walking through a garden or labyrinth, it draws parallels with our own journey in referencing our growth as people since the last record,” said Holmes.
The 5-piece are now gearing up to smash the inaugural UNIFY gathering before heading out to support The Amity Affliction on their upcoming sold-out regional tour!
