Hellcat Speedracer Drop Debut EP No Chaos, No Future and Share Key Influences Behind It

Sydney’s rising electronic duo Hellcat Speedracer have unleashed their high-energy debut EP, No Chaos, No Future. Showcasing a bold, layered sound that blends electronic dance and indie, the 7-track EP captures a dynamic fusion of styles, spanning ambient intros to intense dance-rock beats. Known for their nostalgic and experimental edge, Oliver and Alex have crafted an EP that pushes genre boundaries with live vocals, guitar, and bass mixed with cutting-edge digital effects.

This highly anticipated release features the euphoric single the one, alongside fan-favourite collaborations like Daybreak with DZ Deathrays and Our Friends featuring Zoe from The Buoys. Adding a personal touch, Hellcat Speedracer have also shared with us five influential tracks that inspired the creation of No Chaos, No Future, giving us a glimpse into the duo’s creative process and diverse musical influences.

Voodoo People – The Prodigy

When we wrote Daybreak with Shane (DZ Deathrays) back in 2023 we had one mood in mind. Rave! We knew Shane had a belter of a scream on him so we wanted to created a electronic vibe that could match his rock/metal nuances. Voodoo People had that perfect reference point with its drivy, gritty synths and heavy drums, it is the perfect rave-rock anthem.

Baiana – Nia Archives

This track is insane. One moment that really inspired us was the drums breaks when we were making Ethos (with Medhanit). We wanted the intensity and beauty that jungle music has.

The Difference (feat. Toro y Moi) – Flume

Sonically this song wasn’t a major reference. We more so appreciated its story telling. This idea was carried into the writing process of ‘the one’. It is one of the few tracks on the EP that only features us on it. So we really wanted to demonstrate who Alex and Oli are as musicians and people. Flume nailed it with this track. Its both complex and intense in the way that always makes you wanna dance, and its this motif that we hope is carried into our own music.

Ready For The Weekend – Calvin Harris

Now this album we have been rinsing on tour. Its such a fun album, full of epic production and catchy af hooks. Its the kind of energy we hoped to portray across our EP when listening to it from top to bottom.

D.A.N.C.E – Justice

This song has all the energy we wanted Our Friends (with Zoe from The Buoys) to have. It’s just a fun track and always gets the party started. Hopefully people use Our Friends when hijacking the AUX chord to get their own parties started.
