HINDS Announce Australian Tour Fueled By Beer
Madrid four-piece HINDS are coming to Australia for their first international tour. HINDS is no stranger to playing live shows, having played 135 of them throughout the last year – sixteen of which were at SXSW over a period of four days and countless others at various dives around America.
The tour is in support of their new album ‘Leave Me Alone’, following on from their 2015 EP ‘Garden’. In an interview, guitarist Carlotta Cosials said, “when I see this album, I imagine ourselves so alone, four girls doing their first album as they can.
What makes HINDS’ DIY garage-rock work is its charming authenticity. Their video for Chili Town shows them drinking, smoking, general cavorting, but it never comes across as being forced. As though even if they hadn’t planned to film anything that day, chances are they’d still be drinking malt liquor on a rooftop.
The warm, vintage fuzz and beer-buzz vocals invoke The Strokes’ ‘Is This It’ in its simplicity and effortlessness. The careless strums and the way each member sings over the top of one another, turn what could be a retro-inspired mess into a wild and giddy chaos.
