Hold The Phone, Just A Gent Covers Kid Cudi For Like A Version

The lad with the bangers, Just A Gent showed off his versatility with a Like A Version cover Kid Cudi’s Day N’ Nite this morning. After releasing his debut EP ‘Stories To Tell’ and playing his debut live show at Splendour In The Grass 2016, he had plenty of energy and confidence to bring to the triple j studio.

 The cover is a multi-faceted blend of sounds, starting off with some soothing cellos and violins before Just A Gent dives into his signature synthesised beats. Featured vocalist Thandi Phoenix delivers the lyrics beautifully, working with the build-up of electronic sounds, cellos, and samples.

The chorus will have you longing for more cross-genre club-banger-orchestras with its fresh combination of bass and strings, and the energy doesn’t end there – L-FRESH The LION jumps on in with a fast-paced rap in the second verse, lifting the cover to another level.

Comprising soothing R&B vocals mixed with old-school strings and modern day electronica, this is a cover that would be difficult to top. Hats off to you, Mr. Gent.
