The House That Local Bands Built: Japandroids Announce National Support Acts
One of indie’s loudest, most raucous rock bands, Japandroids, are soon hitting Australian shores and, to add to the madness, the American duo have announced some local acts joining them in each city along this mammoth tour.
Press Club, native to Brunswick, will be joining the raw energy in Melbourne with Von Stache, a fellow two-piece rock act, tearing things up early in Geelong. Sydney was be graced by local scuzz-pop act Body Type while hometown heroes of Newcastle will have Paper Thin playing before Japandroids. Recently released their new EP–and showing off some in-studio footage–WAAX have the honour of opening the night in Brisbane while warming up the rooms in Adelaide and Perth respectively will be Horror My Friend and FOAM.
This upcoming Australian tour comes in support of Japandroids’ third studio album, ‘Near to the Wild Heart of Life’. Released to roaring reviews, the band aptly followed up their 2012 masterpiece, ‘Celebration Rock’–which seemed almost impossible at the time. Last in the country at the tail end of 2016 for Meredith Music Festival, Fairgrounds Festival and couple of headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney, Japandroids are back by popular demand.
