Jack Davies and The Bush Chooks Reveal New Single, ‘Clothes Peg’ + Announce Tour

Boorloo/Perth-based indie-folk band Jack Davies and The Bush Chooks have just announced their alt-country debut album, ‘The Nighttime, The Wind, The Crocodile‘, out Thursday, February 1. Accompanying this announcement is their latest single off the record, ‘Clothes Peg‘ – produced by lead vocalist Jack Davies and Broderick Madden Scott

‘Clothes Peg’ weaves introspective lyrics with delicate threads of amber vocals against an ethereal instrumental backdrop. Gentle guitar plucking unfurls into a dreamy resonance, offering glimpses of the lead singer Jack Davies’ contemplative musings. The arrangement unveils new textures in a melodic ebb and flow, ending on a lingering cadence of self-reflection.
Jack Davies talks about the inspiration behind ‘Clothes Peg’:
“‘Clothes Peg’ is about uncertainty, change and wonder. It was written about being in the depths of a confusing and difficult time in life. My desk has a window facing a tree, a clothesline and a brick wall. The wind would come through and make these things move and leaves blow around. The song is a musing on that imagery, connecting it to the feeling of being stuck and wanting to find a way to move forward. The answer is blowing in the wind, but the wind is chaotic and hard to follow. I don’t want to just let it dry me out, I want to find a way to go along with it, move at the same pace as the crazy hectic tornado that life can often amount to.”
In the live arena, the band will close the year, performing at Fremantle Arts Centre and celebrating New Year’s at Woodford Folk Festival. From this, the band will embark on a national tour to support their upcoming album, finishing with a homecoming show in Boorloo/Perth. They have previously supported WA luminaries Spacey Jane, The Waifs, Stella Donnelly and have sold out multiple headline shows nationwide.
