Aleksiah – The Hit
I am so excited for this new wave of pop artists coming out of Australia! I can’t remember when I first heard about Aleksiah… I guess being in the music industry, you tend to forget the first time you hear about an artist. But this song really got me. It’s a fun pop-synth track, something we’ve really been lacking in Australia – and I’m very excited to see what’s in store for Aleksiah!

Ariana Grande – twilight zone
One of my friends introduced me to this song. He’s obsessed with Ari – and I wasn’t really into her Eternal Sunshine album at first, but all of the extra tracks she dropped have been on repeat for me! I was once driving to pick up a dress from Geelong for a music video on a Saturday night, and I spent the whole drive alone listening to Twilight Zone on repeat. THE WHOLE RIDE! I couldn’t pick between Past Life and Twilight Zone. Past Life, no doubt, will be one of my top (if not, the top) songs this year.
Oasis – Champagne Supernova
This song has a special place in my heart. There was a time where I played this absolutely on repeat. I think there’s a theme here – I tend to have certain songs on repeat, like comfort songs… and this is definitely a comfort song. I’d just go driving to this song for weeks on end. And the friend I wrote ‘Tell Me All Your Lies’ about, who I hadn’t spoken to in ages, posted a story on Instagram with this song playing. I replied saying, “This is so weird, but for the past month or so I’ve just been listening to this song, and only this song, on repeat.” And they said, ‘I’m not kidding, me too!!!!’ Just goes to show the power of human connection. I truly believe that once you’re connected to someone like that, you can just think about them and somehow know they’re thinking of you too, even if you don’t talk.
Arctic Monkeys – Do I Wanna Know?
One of my brother’s favourite bands is Arctic Monkeys! I decided to go through their discography a few years ago because of this, and I fell in love with this song. It’s flawless.
Jet – She’s a Genius
Jet is one of my all time favourite bands – I called my car Baby Jet ahah! But I gotta say, it probably stems from a ton of nostalgia.. When I was younger, my dad bought their CD, and that was one of the only CDs we had in the car. It was on repeat for years.
