Jordie Lane Launches New Single & Music Video
The radio silence of Melbourne artist Jordie Lane is finally over! Today Lane dropped the music video for his first single Frederick Steel McNeil Ferguson from his much anticipated third album.
Not only does he shed his shaggy hair but Lane also diverts from his folk roots and follows in the footsteps of Bob Dylan’s ‘Street Legal’ album. The song is raw and intense, but simple. Soft percussion, a strumming guitar, and the occasional piano key drive the track, allowing the audience to focus on the story.
Nestled in the backyard of a dilapidated property, Lane retells his grandfather’s inner turmoil after World War I. Unable to look the camera in the eye, Lane drones his grandfather’s name, haunted by his ancestral sin. However, his agony is appeased when two beings cut his hair and strip away his fear one strand at a time.
The new single and video has been dropped ahead of the Melbourne launch this month. It’ll be the first time his band has been together in almost two years, and will feature a plethora of special guests including Sweet Jean and Leah Senior. Lane will also be performing at several venues, including the National Folk Festival.
Frederick Steel McNeil Ferguson is the first instalment of the third album which is slated for release later this year.
