JVLY Unveils Hypnotic New Single ‘Drowning in My Room’ Ahead of Forthcoming Sunder EP

Australian artist JVLY continues his streak of mesmerising releases with his latest single, Drowning in My Room, a standout track from his upcoming Sunder EP. Following the success of SOUTH and LOCUM, this new song deepens the immersive world he is crafting within the project.

JVLY describes Drowning in My Room as a reflection on the allure of self-pity and the way people can shift blame rather than take ownership of their struggles. Sonically, the track blends dreamy Juno synth chords, groovy basslines, punchy drums, and an underwater-like guitar melody, creating an atmospheric yet introspective soundscape.

DROWNING IN MY ROOM sits right in the middle of SUNDER and it’s a direct look at the world I’m trying to bring you into. When you look at a high-rise building in a city, there’s a different story in every window, everyone’s got things going on in their own little world. I think DIMR is an ironic take on the traps of self-pity. Passing up ownership of issues doesn’t help anyone, but it’s easier to do because the blame gets shifted, and there’s something tempting in that, but how does that fix it, you know?

The track sits at the core of the Sunder EP, embodying its overarching themes and sonic aesthetic. JVLY likens it to glimpsing different stories within the windows of a city’s high-rise buildings—each person lost in their own world. Through hypnotic melodies and thoughtful lyricism, the song captures this emotional complexity.

As soon as I had those chords on the juno and that groove with the bass and drums, and that kind of underwater sounding guitar line, I knew this track was the one to speak to that part of the story.” JVLY

With Sunder EP on the horizon, Drowning in My Room offers a compelling preview of what’s to come. Stream it now and dive into JVLY’s evolving sonic universe.
