Kanye West Denied Entry to Australia Over Antisemitic Song

Controversial rapper and producer Kanye West—who now goes by Ye—has had his Australian visa cancelled following the release of a song containing antisemitic lyrics, according to a report by the ABC.

Australia’s Immigration Minister Tony Burke confirmed on Afternoon Briefing that officials in his department made the decision after reviewing West’s recently released track titled ‘Heil Hitler’. Despite West holding a valid low-tier visa—reportedly not intended for concert or advocacy purposes—his history of inflammatory remarks, paired with the new release, led to the cancellation.

“He’s made a lot of offensive comments that my officials looked at again once he released that song,” Burke told the ABC. “If you’re going to have a song and promote that sort of Nazism, we don’t need that in Australia.”

The decision comes amid broader discussions about Australia’s stance on public hate speech and visa entry laws. Burke also addressed the case of Israeli-American tech advocate Hillel Fuld, whose Islamophobic comments were cited as grounds for denial of entry, despite no visa application being received.

While the government has not imposed a permanent ban on Ye, Burke emphasized that visa applications are assessed individually each time under existing legislation.

“We have enough problems in this country already without deliberately importing bigotry,” he added.

West’s connection to Australia stems from his relationship with Bianca Censori, an Australian architect whom he reportedly married in 2022.
