King Ibis Unveil Fluorescent Single, ‘Patience’
Boorloo/Perth-based indie-rock band King Ibis recently unveiled their mesmerising single ‘Patience‘ – produced and mixed by Andy Lawson (The Buoys, Noah Dillon, Drapht).
‘Patience’ gently immerses the listener into a brooding atmosphere, crafted by ruminating synths, palm-muted guitars, and the delicate vocals of lead singer Nadene Burchell. As the instrumental progresses, Nadene’s frustration and animosity surge and swell, reaching a crescendo in the final chorus, accentuated by the powerful combination of the growling sub bass, wailing guitar lines, and an unsettled rhythm section.
King Ibis talks about the inspiration behind ‘Patience’:
“‘Patience’ takes you through the confusion, frustration and rage of finding out a rumour had been circulated about you by someone you believed to be a friend. A plea to understand and be understood, the beginning attempts to open dialogue with the betrayer. In a final roar of all-consuming anger, any patience that remained has been spent and the song draws to a moody, sultry close.”
In the live scene, King Ibis have previously shared the stage with notable Aussie acts such as Spacey Jane, Jebediah, Dulcie, Sly Withers, Dear Sunday and Ghost Care. Their release ‘Touch‘ was also nominated for a WAM ‘Song Of The Year‘ Award (2022).
