Kings Of Leon ARE BACK, Don’t “Waste A Moment” In New Single
American rockers Kings Of Leon have released their latest single Waste A Moment, in anticipation for their new album ‘Walls’, which is set for release in mid-October.
Waste A Moment is reminiscent of earlier Kings Of Leon songs, with an upbeat melody and layered instrumentation that drive the song forward nicely. The bass line demands to be listened to, as the guitars jangle along a building melody. The vocals are raw, emotive, and distinctly Kings Of Leon, and the song has an overall similar sound to the band’s 2013 single Supersoaker.
Lyrically, Waste A Moment paints the picture of a dingy go-nowhere American town, with words of desolation and boredom, “all the way from Waco to WeHo with the rabbit on a chain/Drove a little slick car to ten bar with the static on her brain”.
The Tenessee 4-piece first formed in 2000, comprising of brothers Caleb Followill, Nathan Followill, and Jared Followill, and their cousin Matthew Followill on lead guitar. The family-band have had a successful 16-years together, including seven Grammy Nominations and three wins.
Known to most for their 2008 breakthrough album ‘Only By The Night’ which featured hit singles Sex On Fire and Use Somebody, Kings Of Leon helped shape the rock revival of the late-00s with their infectious tunes. ‘Only By The Night’ was the best-selling album in Australia in 2008, and was certified platinum a whopping nine times!
Following this success, both the band’s 2010 album ‘Come Around Sundown’ and 2013 album ‘Mechanical Bull’ gave the 4-piece Grammy Nominations for Best Rock Album (at the 54th and 56th Grammy Awards, respectively).
Kings Of Leon’s seventh album, ‘Walls’ will be the first release from the band in three years, and if the lead single is anything to go off, it’s going to be another catchy rock release from the Nashville band!
