Late June Reveals New Single, ‘Focus’ and Announces New Album
Aotearoa-based producer Late June has just announced his new album ‘Mending‘ – due Friday, December 6. Accompanying the announcement is the serene cut, ‘Focus‘, along with the previous single ‘Fragments‘, which will be included on the record.
‘Focus’ is a dreamlike cut of ambient electronica that skirts the line between luscious, meditative soundscapes and forthright dance music. Opening with swirling arpeggiating synths, ‘Focus’ immediately creates a serene sonic environment mixed with thudding kick drums and staccato hi-hats. Reverberating piano and stirring vocal samples bring on a hypnotic dynamic that crescendos and fades in waves of intensity.

Late June talks about the inspiration and process behind ‘Focus’:
“‘Focus’ as a song is about relieving the pressures of succeeding and having perfect friendships and relationships in life, and just putting more comfort and love into daily life. I wrote the ‘Focus’ chord progression in my head while staring at the waves at the beach, just at sunset golden hour, purple, golden light shining down with my daughter digging a hole next to me, smiling and asking me questions. I wrote the song late that night, from around 7pm till 4am.”
