Legion Music Festival Announces First Acts

The inaugural Legion Music Festival has announced the first of over two-dozen acts set to appear at the Australia’s first fan-funded heavy music festival.

Born out of the ashes of Soundwave Festival (Read: Soundwave Festival Cancelled) the festival will feature ex-Soundwave 2016 American outfits Devil You Know, Darkest Hour, Battlecross, and Australia’s own Darkc3ll.

Festival organisers have thanked the announced acts for their “truly amazing support” and will be announcing the inaugural festival’s headliners “as soon as possible”.

Legion’s Pozible campaign was officially launched yesterday with a target of over $3 million. So far nearly $50,000 has already been pledged to the campaign.

The fan-funded festival will first hit Melbourne then Sydney and Brisbane, before it becomes a club mini-festival for Adelaide and Perth dates.

Devil You Know drummer and Legion Music Festival mastermind John Sankey has confirmed several acts from the major Festival bill will perform at the mini-festivals.

“We didn’t want you guys to miss out, didn’t forget about you guys, so we’re really stoked that we can bring you something,” he said.

Sankey says Legion Music Festival is keen to showcase both established acts and upcoming talent from Australia and from overseas, including a number of bands that were billed for Soundwave 2016.
