Let The Foundry Festivus Begin!
In less than a year Brisbane’s newest live music venue The Foundry has become THE place to catch the best local and touring acts, as well as cutting shapes to Brisvegas’ best DJ’s. In the spirit of giving, we present to you the best of the many amazing shows going down at The Foundry during December and January.
The Foundry Festivus, Saturday 19th December
Featuring: Moses Gunn Collective, Baskervillain, If I Had Antlers
Deviating slightly from the Seinfeld-born tradition’s origins, this will be the last chance to get your Elaine Benes dance on before all the cool venues wind down for the summer. Local psych-trippers Moses Gunn Collective head up the night, but that’s far from the only reason to come along to The Foundry’s ‘Festivus for the rest of us’.
The Foundry are busting out all the trimmings true to the holiday’s customs including an unadorned aluminium pole in place of a tree, various Feats of Strength, the sacred Airing of Grievances, and many more Festivus miracles. So come join your fellow Hipster Doofuses for what’s sure to be a night that’s fun, foot-loose and a little sloppy (in the best possible way).
Brisbabes #2, Saturday 9th January
Featuring: Sahara Beck, Avaberee, Love Signs, Alla Spina
After all the action of Brisbabes #1, the second instalment is on its way to light up January by celebrating the best female talent that Brisbane has to offer.
The night promises to be bigger, better, and more babe-licious, featuring some of the best local female musicians including indie-folk goddess Sahara Beck and synth-pop darlings Avaberee.
Attendee’s do not need to be in possession of an XX chromosome to get in on this good time, just bring your dancing shoes and a hella-good attitude.
Harts “All Rise” Tour, Friday 15th January
Harts has been shredding his Stratocaster and wowing audiences all over the country for the most part of 2015 off the back of EP “Breakthrough”. Due to overwhelming demand the Melbourne guitarist will once again hit the road in January for his brand new single All Rise (Play It Cool), lifted from his forthcoming sophomore album, due for release in March 2016.
The new single is a rock ‘n roll banger made for dance floors everywhere, with Harts’ signature mix of dirty guitars, funky bass, pounding drums, and of course plenty of shredding.
The Cairos “Love Don’t Feel Right” Tour, Saturday 23rd January
w/ OK Badlands, Pop Cult
After splitting from their label Brisbane indie legends The Cairos are back with a new tour in celebration of their new single Love Don’t Feel Right.
The single sees the four-piece move slightly away from their expansive rock sound as heard on last year’s “Dream of Reason” album, with the band exploring the use of synthesisers and psych-inspired vocal effects.
The result is a driving indie-rock track expertly blending a wobbling synthesiser with a danceable groove and dreamy vocals, absolutely perfect for summer.
Gluttons For Punishment, Saturday 27th February
Featuring: The Snowdroppers, The Hard Aches, The Strums, Twin Fires
The Gluttons For Punishment Tour is a ramshackle traveling rock’n’roll circus hitting most capital cities, leaving behind a wake of broken bottles, patchy memories, and a cohort of very happy people.
The Snowdroppers were out on the road being a nuisance for three months in 2015 off the back of their critically acclaimed new album “Business”, selling out shows across the country and a red-hot set at BIGSOUND.
The rockers have hand picked the line-up to provide a good old-fashioned booty-shaking and mischief-making event. They’re taking an all-new live and visual show out on the road and bringing some of the best rock outfits going around at the moment courtesy of The Hard Aches, The Strums, and Twin Fires.
Neon Indian, Wednesday 16th December
Heart-warped synth wizard Alan Palomo a.k.a Neon Indian returns to Australia on the back of his new album “Vega Intl. Night School”. He first became popular around the turn of the 2000s as one of the standard-bearers for chillwave. The new album is Neon Indian’s first album since 2011’s glitch and stargazing “Era Extrana”.
Mansionair “Speak Easy” Tour, Thursday 17th December
The Sydney trio have been steadily rising making a name for themselves since dropping debut single Hold Me Down early in 2014. Their intriguing genre-crossing electronica has seen Mansionair play sold-out headline shows, play Laneway Festival and Splendour In The Grass, and shared stages with Florence and the Machine, Alt-J, The Temper Trap, and BANKS
