Lime Cordiale Join Forces with Ruel for Irresistibly Catchy New Single ‘Melodramatic Fanatic’

Sydney’s genre-blending hitmakers Lime Cordiale have teamed up with global pop powerhouse Ruel for their electrifying new single, Melodramatic Fanatic — a feel-good indie-pop anthem packed with infectious energy and clever songwriting. Fusing Lime Cordiale’s signature laid-back guitar work and bouncy rhythms with Ruel’s soulful vocals, the track is a vibrant blend of indie rock, alt-pop, and sun-soaked melodies.

First teased during joint performances in Sydney and LA, Melodramatic Fanatic explores themes of youthful recklessness and chaotic love, all wrapped in an upbeat sonic package. Despite its fun exterior, the track carries a darker undertone — inspired by a real-life car accident witnessed by Lime Cordiale’s Oli and Louis — adding depth to its playful title.

“We first got to know each other while writing this tune. It was a few years ago now, but it feels like we’ve been mates forever. We had a lot of fun putting it together, though there’s definitely a darker edge running through it. About a month before we wrote it, Louis and I witnessed a heavy car crash with teenagers behind the wheel. That experience left a mark so even though it’s happy sounding, there’s a dark undertone of reckless adolescence and messy young love.
We finished the production whilst on tour in the USA, recording guitars in hotel rooms and listening to mixes on the bus until we met up with Ruel in LA where joined us on stage for a little sneak-peak performance at The Roxy!”Lime Cordiale.

Written years ago and finished while on tour across the US, the track came to life through late-night hotel room recordings and bus-mix sessions before Ruel laid down his parts in LA. The result is a nostalgic yet fresh collaboration that perfectly captures the chaotic thrill of adolescence.

“Me and the LC guys have been sitting on this track for ages… just waiting for the right time to get it out. Sometimes when you listen back to things you’ve made, you kinda change your mind about how things sound, but not this one! The three of us love ‘Melodramatic Fanatic’ just as much now as when we first sat down to write it. Hope you love it as much as we do.”Ruel.

The single arrives hot on the heels of Lime Cordiale’s Enough Of The Sweet Talk album and their dual tour announcements, further solidifying their reputation as one of Australia’s most beloved live acts.
