Lolita Mae Returns With Dreamy New Single, ‘Neo Jax’
Eora/Sydney-based artist/producer Lolita Mae has unveiled her immersive single ‘Neo Jax‘ – produced by the artist herself and mixed/mastered by PAX (Keiynan, Young6ix, Isaac Puerile).
‘Neo Jax’ is an elusive constellation of vintage reverie and cinematic grandeur that sonically sweeps into a smoky dreamscape. Instrumentally infused in a velvety mist, the electronic production shimmers against Lolita Mae’s haunting vocals, capturing an intoxicating odyssey of nostalgia and alluring mystique.
Lolita Mae talks about the inspiration behind ‘Neo Jax’:
“‘Neo Jax’ is a half-fictional story about a traumatic and toxic past relationship that ultimately ends with an attempted suicide. It was a relationship demolished by the thrashes of emotional abuse, manipulation, vices and infidelity inflicted by this former love; the writing of this song was a form of confrontation with these painful events.”
Lolita Mae is the musical project of Eva Uribe, born into a South American musical heritage that hails from Chilean and Ecuadorean roots. She shares, “I grew up with family members who played South American music that came from Ecuador, such as Pasillo, Salsa, some Andean Folklore music, Pasacalle and Reggaeton.”
