Loons Reveal Bittersweet Jam, ‘Money Honey’

Mulubinba/Newcastle-based indie-rock band LOONS have unveiled their anthemic single ‘Money Honey‘ – produced by Jack Nigro (Pacific AvenueThe TerrysDICE).

‘Money Honey’ opens with golden hues of carefree rhythms as Elijah Cairns‘ rich vocals pierce through layers of cathartic guitars. The driving drums propel the momentum forward, creating a transcendent soundscape that continuously builds to an exhilarating finale.

LOONS talk about the inspiration behind ‘Money Honey’:

“Elijah wrote it at a time when he felt that his world was collapsing around him and his partner at the time had seemingly changed her priorities and values in the relationship to achieve financial success. After much work, the song came together and each member wrote fresh parts on their selected instruments to change what had been a raw acoustic song into an indie rock anthem.”

In the live arena, the band have shared the stage with acts such as The Terrys, Surf Trash, Shag Rock,Dune Rats, The Rions, Grinspoon and The Grogans. They have also played hometown shows at KingStreet Warehouse at full capacity.

Inspired by the likes of Spacey JaneLime Cordiale and Arctic Monkeys, the band met at a young age, sharing that, “We all jammed together as kids, playing in multiple ensembles and bands. Bailey and Elijah are childhood best mates and grew up playing together, gaining a really strong musical connection. Ely played in many bands and found himself in a couple of Elijah’s early projects throughout their teen years.”
