Luke Hyland Returns with the Soul-Stirring Indie Folk Single ‘Moonshine’
Sydney-based indie folk artist Luke Hyland returns with his stunning new single ‘Moonshine’, a heartfelt and soulful reflection on love, distance, and the lingering glow of memory.
Originally from Ireland, Hyland first began writing ‘Moonshine’ in 2021 while staying at his grandparents’ home in Dublin, a quiet moment that would evolve into one of his most moving releases to date.

“In November 2021 Moonshine started as a rough voice memo in my grandparents spare room in Dublin. The Chorus was the original spark/idea and I knew straight away there was something special in it, so I kept coming back to the lyrics over the next two years until it finally felt right
At that stage I didn’t know if/how I was going to record it, but fast forward two years – June 2023 I’m back in Sydney and I finally get the chance to get into a studio and record the demo and build on it from there.”
Now fully realised and recorded in Sydney, ‘Moonshine’ captures the emotional weight of its journey. Blending bright melodies with smooth grooves and Hyland’s warm, expressive vocals, the track feels like a tender conversation between past and present. Its delicate instrumentation and intimate storytelling invite listeners into Luke’s world, where nostalgia and growth intertwine effortlessly.
There’s a quiet power in ‘Moonshine’, it doesn’t shout, it lingers. It’s songwriting and storytelling at their most honest, the kind of song that plays softly but stays long after it ends.
‘Moonshine’ cements Luke Hyland as a rising voice in the indie folk scene, delivering the kind of emotional depth and musical craftsmanship that turns a simple melody into a memory.
