Maddison Kate Unveils Emotionally-Charged Debut EP ‘What I’d Say To You’

Meanjin/Brisbane indie-folk artist Maddison Kate has officially released her powerful debut EP What I’d Say To You, a vulnerable, four-track collection that showcases her poetic songwriting, heartfelt vocals, and sweeping folk instrumentation.

Out now, the EP serves as an emotional deep-dive into heartbreak, identity, and healing. Opening track A Truth bursts to life with rich violin and pulsing percussion, channeling the raw turmoil of a relationship breakdown. Follow-up More to Me floats between longing and self-worth, fusing intricate guitar lines with soaring vocals.

Third track Alive strips everything back, offering an intimate moment of reflection on loss without closure, slowly building to a haunting crescendo. Closing the project, Flowered Heart brings light and warmth, celebrating personal growth through lush strings and piano-led melodies.

Maddison’s honest lyricism and earthy soundscapes place her firmly in the lineage of Australia’s finest indie-folk voices.

She’ll launch the EP at Brisbane’s Junk Bar on Sunday, August 17, with support from Josie Eather and Neish – TICKETS
