After months of fan anticipation, the long-awaited collaboration between Maiah Manser, What So Not, and drum & bass duo Synergy has officially dropped. Titled With a Smile, the track first captured global attention during What So Not’s explosive set at triple j’s One Night Stand in Australia, where Manser’s haunting vocals met a high-octane DnB flip that quickly went viral across social media.

Blending Manser’s cinematic, ethereal vocal delivery with What So Not and Synergy’s festival-ready energy, With a Smile has racked up tens of millions of views online in various live and remix forms. The viral sensation earned the duo a coveted slot at Coachella 2025, where they brought the track to life on one of the world’s biggest stages.

What So Not, fresh off a standout year marked by his Motions EP and a J Award nomination for Live Act of the Year, teamed up with Maiah and Synergy to finalise the track between tour dates—at one point working out of a Fiat van on Ireland’s west coast.

“The song quite literally only existed live at that show… and then it went viral and we had to work out how to finish it, clear it and get it released. I was captivated by Maiah’s ethereal style and her work on film scoring. She had this particular ‘siren’ vocal delivery in a song I always envisaged as a festival anthem! We worked on a bunch of demos in LA and I flew her to Australia to showcase them at this big One Night Stand performance. I flipped and edited that “With A Smile” vocal moment with stems of a DnB tune of mine and Synergy’s only a day before the event and that’s the moment that seemed to explode over the internet resulting in tens of millions of plays and millions of likes.
