Mark Maxwell Gets Your Heart Rate Up On His Latest Record ‘Dance’

Australian producer Mark Maxwell has stepped it up a notch on his latest record Dance. It’s 3:27 minutes of pure club power with hints of house and club electro that push it into the genre of, well, pure dance really.

Long before the sweaty nightclubs and endless days in the studio, I had Chemical Brothers and Soulwax blaring through the headphones of my Sony Walkman. I’ve been a bit nostalgic over the last few months, and been revisiting some of my favourites from the early 2000s and I feel this is the kind of music we need right now. It’s robust, it’s focused, but undeniably fun. DANCE is a collage of sorts – as I’ve been stuck in my studio, I’ve been collecting different vocals, noises, and synths and finding a way to piece them all together. I want this song to be your get up and go on Monday morning. It’s your PT yelling for one more set. It’s your first drink on a Friday afternoon.” – Mark Maxwell

To get to know the whiz producer a little better we thought we’d ask him to share with us his favourite 5 dance tunes that get him moving.

Disclosure – Energy
I’ve been a fan of Disclosure for years and this record has only cemented my love for them even more. The combination of the hype vocal and the rolling percussion is just electric! And then the Disclosure synths come in and sweeten the deal.

Boyz Noize – Mvinline
A sample driven house record like this is what got me into House music in the first place. Artists like Phats and Small and Armand Van Helden paved the way for filtered loopy house music like this. This is a modern classic with so much energy and funk!

Kormak – Let’s Talk About It
I’ve been lucky enough to warm up for Kormak a few times over the years and absolutely love what he’s bringing to Australian house music! Super quality production but also paving his own way in the global scene. I’ve been fortunate to hear the track ahead of its release, it is no exception and fresh off the press!

GW Harrison – Hear My Soul
Another awesome sample driven record! So much punch in this one and I’m a sucker for latin vibes. Perfect for those afternoon sets sipping fruity cocktails!

Jacob Collier – Time Alone With You (feat. Daniel Caesar)
A bit of a left field final addition with Jacob Collier. I’m blown away by this guys skill, talent and ability to write and produce incredible records. Almost a bit of a musical philosopher that’s pushing the limits of rhythm and melody! And it’s such a sick jam.

Dance is available now, everywhere.
