Mastodon Announce Download Festival Sideshows

Returning to the country for the massive, inaugural Download Festival Melbourne, Mastodon have announced an additional round of sideshows.

Hitting some massive venues, including Sydney’s Big Top and Brisbane’s Eatons Hill Hotel, these pair on shows follow the group’s most recent EP release of last year, ‘Cold Dark Place’. In our review, we said:

“‘Cold Dark Place’ delivers the kind of sound I wish the band had gone for on ‘Emperor of Sand’; pushing the prog whilst allowing softer instrumentation and melodic vocals to appropriately compliment a more matured version of the band. Needless to say, I’m glad to see that even with just four songs, we’ve gotten to see the band go in this direction.”

Both shows will be accompanied by French quartet, Gojira. Mind-bending prog with cosmic metal anthems, this group are perfect match for the power and veracity of Mastodon.
